A three-day biohackathon event to bring together industry and academic parties in the open-source synthetic biology community. “Nona Works” is focused on community building, idea execution, and education.

TIMELINE

Day 1: Dec. 2nd

  • 4:30-5:15 – Registration: Coffee / snacks, informal area set up to meet/greet each other
  • 5:30-6:15 – Introduction/Daily Kickoff: Greeting and Presentation by George Johnson
  • 6:15-7:00 – Ideation phase: Teams form and ideas are formed
  • 7:00-8:00 – Dinner
  • 8:00-9:00 – Closing Remarks/Technical Briefings – what software tools are being developed/used now in academia and industry

Day 2: Dec. 3rd

  • 8:00 – 9:00 – Daily Kickoff: organizers lay out the agenda for the day. Teams explain their project ideas and share their plans
  • 10:00 – 11:00 – Nona Application Workshop
  • 11:30 – 4:00 – Intro to Development: High School focused workshop
  • 2:00 – 3:00 – Docker Workshop
  • 6:00 – 7:00 – Closing: At the end of the day teams share their progress and plan for the final day
  • 7:00 – Dinner Break and reconvene in the morning

Day 3: Dec. 4th

  • 8:00-9:00 – Daily Kickoff: organizers lay out the agenda for the day. Teams explain their project ideas and share their plans
  • 10:00 – 11:00 – Open Source Workshop
  • 12:00 – Submission Due! Close-off time
  • 12:00 – 2:00 – Career Fair
  • 12:30-1:30 – Lunch break
  • 1:30 – 3:00 – Presentations
  • 3:30 – 4:00 – Results and Closing
Intro to Development: High School focused workshop agenda:
  • 11:30 – Start bringing in attendees to get pizza and make sure everybody is registered 
  • 12:00 – Industry professional introduction
  • 12:30 – Start programming with GitHub
  • 1:00 – 15 minute break 
  • 1:15 – Start to make the GUI
  • 2:30 – 15 minute break  
  • 2:45 – Finish GUI and push up to Github 
  • 4:10 – 15 minute break  
  • 4:25 – Wrap-up and awards
